Excursion: Limburg, visit the bright side of life (food & wine tasting tour incl. lunch & dinner)
Being part of the Netherlands for only 150 years ( celebrated this year), Limburg is sometimes viewed as a different part of the Netherlands.
It could have to do with the landscape which is not flat, for which the rest of our country is so well known for.
Or with the fact that it sticks out like an appendix in between Germany and Belgium and has been part of Belgium, France and even Spain; making it far more cross-border orientated.
Or that it is has the oldest known history of the country, dating back to the Roman era.
Or about the people in Limburg who tend to be more relaxed and more introvert then their fellow countrymen
But we, the people of Limburg, know what the real difference is: we tend to enjoy life a bit more than others!
Knowledge Crossing Borders
During a full day we will show you the highlights of Limburg, and our first stop will be The Brightlands Chemelot Campus.
This campus is focused on creating open innovation by bringing together government, universities and companies to drive innovations in Smart and Sustainable Materials. And in this way contributing to a brighter life, not only for the people of Limburg but the World!
Creating an atmosphere where Knowledge can cross Borders, you will hear from the different inhabitants of this campus and actually feel and work with their products in workshops.
Maastricht: Meet Europe
“Why visit Maastricht?
Local food, beer, wine, Burgundian lifestyle and lots of history!
In the afternoon we welcome you to discover the good life in Maastricht, the southernmost city of the Netherlands which also claims to be the oldest city in our country.
In Maastricht wining and dining is more important in people’s lives than in other parts of The Netherlands. The Michelin star restaurant density is high, as is the quality of (local) food, wine and beer.
Let Maastricht surprise you by its rich history and culture. The city is home to many characteristic Roman buildings, beautiful architecture and lovely alleys.
We offer you a guided ‘Burgundian’ tour by foot, tasting local food, while exploring many beautiful historical places in the city centre, ending up in the oldest winery in The Netherlands for some (local) wine tasting.
